Undergraduate Peer Tutor
Job Summary: Peer Tutors provide learning support in selected coursework in which they have demonstrated high academic achievement. General duties include facilitating individual and/or group academic support sessions, attendance at required tutor training sessions and meetings, and assisting other staff when requested.
Nature of Work: This position reports to the Program Manager of the SMART Lab. New tutors are required to enroll in CRLA Tutor Training withing their first year to maintain active tutor status. The following list provides examples of the most typical duties for this position; it may not include all the work that may be assigned to the position.
- Utilizing tutoring best practices to support student learning
- Keeping the learner as the central focus of all work
- Strengthening students’ ability to learn effectively and efficiently
- Presenting themselves in an inviting, helpful, and approachable manner
- Creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust for students and coworkers
- Establishing collaborative working relationships with other tutors, instructors, front desk staff and SMART Lab administrators
- Continuous development of subject area knowledge through training and assigned
activities - Attending meetings and trainings
- Completing review assignments on-time

Schedule: Commitment of 10 – 20 hours per week. Work hours will be on-site at the SMART Lab (Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV Tampa Campus Library). Schedule is variable according to class schedule and SMART Lab hours of operation. This job will require some evening and weekend work hours.
Pay Rate: $15/hour
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Currently enrolled Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV undergraduate student
- Currently in good academic standing
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.25
- Appropriate coursework to support tutored subjects completed with a B+ or higher
Preferred Qualifications:
- Appropriate coursework to support tutored subjects completed at Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV
- Prior tutoring experience in a higher education setting

Federal Work Study (FWS) Program Assistant
Job Summary: The Federal Work Study (FWS) Program Assistant is responsible for managing the front desk and helping all students who utilize the services of the SMART Lab. Candidates must possess excellent communication and customer service skills as they serve as a bridge between students, faculty and university staff who come to the Lab. Duties include answering student questions and advising students on SMART Lab services and policies; referring students appropriately; assisting in SMART Lab testing procedures and other administrative tasks; and answering a multi-line telephone.
Nature of Work: This position reports to the Program Manager of the SMART Lab. As a result of this position, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate basic employability skills such as: timeliness to work, appropriate dress, interpersonal communication, and time management
- Receive and solicit feedback from supervisor and effectively apply feedback on the job
- Assess the workplace and demonstrate how personal talents, skills, and knowledge fit into the employer’s goals, mission, and vision
- Demonstrate their professional brand (identity)
- Communicate transferable and functional skills to prospective employers

- Federal Work Study (FWS) financial aid recipient
- Currently enrolled Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV undergraduate student
- Currently in good academic standing
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.00
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completed at least one year of enrollment at Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV
- Prior customer service experience
