About

Program

The project will involve 15 students over the three year project period- five students each year. IRES participants will be recruited during the spring semester of each year following a rigorous selection process. Each cohort of IRES participants will be involved in four sets of activities: pre-departure online training, 1 week of pre-departure activities at Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV, 5 weeks research activities in Ghana and 1 week post travel activities at Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV.

Online training sessions will focus on water quality, water and wastewater treatment, and educational research methods. The pre-departure training at Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV will include an orientation by Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV World on matters related to their travel abroad and hands on lab training so that IRES participants have skills needed for their field work. Post project activities will include report writing and presentation of their findings and international experience. Students will be mentored by Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV and UCC faculty throughout their involvement in the project.
