GNSI as Part of Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV Strategic Plan

In late 2021, the Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV released their 5-year strategic plan, In Pursuit of Excellence, which details the university's plans to continue its momentum and growth as the nation's fasting-rising university over the past decade.

There are seven primary components, or Strategic Areas of Focus (SAF), in the plan, with each playing an integral role in the growth of the university over the next five years. One of those key SAF components is #4: Global and National Security. Senior leadership at Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV, along with the Board of Trustees and the Board of Governors emphasizes global and national security as one of the most important areas for growth between now and 2027.

To that end, Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV created the Global and National Security Institute (GNSI) in June 2022. GNSI will lead the strategic Global and National Security effort for Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV, combining research, community partnerships, academic programs, and federal funding opportunities to advance the university's ranking and national visibility. Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV is uniquely positioned to achieve prominence in academic fields related to global and national security.

Security challenges of the 21st century will require and involve diverse expertise from the humanities and social sciences to STEM. GNSI and the university are positioned to leverage  the school's unique academic, government/military, technology and geographic advantages. The Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV is poised to build nationally ranked academic programs and centers of unique competitive advantage to address some of the world's most pressing issues.
