The 鶹AV College of Engineering wants to extend congratulations to Yu Zhang, Ph.D., a professor within 鶹AV’s Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Program Director of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) at the , who continues to elevate 鶹AV’s standing through her work in transportation.
Professor Yu Zhang received the Best Paper Award from the Transportation Research Board Standing Committee of Intelligent Transportation System at the with her co-authors , Ph.D. Postdoctoral Researcher at Smart Urban Mobility Laboratory (Sum-Lab), and , Ph.D., Assistant Program Director at CUTR.
The paper's title is “DARTS: Drone-Based AI-Powered Real-Time Traffic Incident Detection System.” It summarizes an integrated approach enables prompt incident detection and a detailed understanding of traffic patterns, contributing to improved traffic management and enhanced road safety. The research project was sponsored by National Institute for Congestion Reduction (NICR), a National University Transportation Center sponsored by the USDOT and housed at CUTR.
As part of the the Transportation Research Board (TRB) has hosted the Annual Meeting since 1920, providing a platform for transportation professionals worldwide to showcase their work and recognizing awards for their exceptional achievements. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine provides independent, objective advice to inform policy with evidence, spark progress and innovation, and confront challenging issues for the benefit of society.
