The 2025 Florida Lessons from Abroad Conference offers students the opportunity to build international connections and bridge their study abroad experiences. With unique networking and skill-building opportunities, including self-presentation and public speaking experience, the conference highlights the lasting impact of global citizenship.

Attendees will learn how to showcase their international experiences on resumes and in job interviews. Featuring dynamic and inspiring speakers, the event will bring together students from across Florida to reflect on how studying abroad continues to shape their academic and professional journeys.

Conference Deadlines

Students interested in presenting their study abroad experience can by March 7, 2025.

This conference is free to attend, and lunch is included with registration. closes March 14, 2025.

 

Presentation Topics and Formats

If proposals align in topic, presenters may be asked to participate in a table discussion or group presentation. All accepted presenters will receive an official Florida Lessons from Abroad Conference Certificate.

When creating a proposal, consider addressing questions such as:

  • When creating a proposal, consider addressing questions such as: How did you adjust to differences in academic expectations, teaching styles or classroom environments?

  • What was it like returning home after your experience? Did you experience reverse culture shock?

  • What challenges did you face while studying abroad, and how did you overcome them?

  • How did studying abroad shape your perspective on global issues or social norms?

  • What aspects of daily life in your host country surprised you the most?

  • In what ways did studying abroad influence your personal identity or sense of self?

  • What is something you wish you had known before leaving? How might that information have changed your experience? What advice would you give to students planning to visit your host country?

Presentations can take a variety of formats, including:

  • Traditional lectures
  • Poetry or journal readings
  • Videos
  • Skits
  • Music compositions
