Heather Judkins, associate professor of integrative biology on the Âé¶¹ÃÛÌÒAV St. Petersburg campus, will continue her studies of cephalopods, such as octopus and squid, as part of a team of scientists aboard the R/V Point Sur for a 12-day research cruise around the Gulf of Mexico. The goal of the cruise is to identify and quantify long-term trends in fishes, crustaceans and cephalopods in the midwaters of the Gulf in response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill that occurred in 2010.

The Âé¶¹ÃÛÌÒAV Institute of Applied Engineering is one of three winners in the NASA TechLeap Prize competition. Winners are awarded an initial $200,000 prize to help mature their technology, with the opportunity for each to win up to a total of $650,000 in prizes as well as a suborbital flight test on a commercial rocket-powered landing vehicle.

Two EE Faculty Receive Patent and NSF Grant for Wearable Technology
Department of Electrical Engineering Associate Professor Arash Takshi and Âé¶¹ÃÛÌÒAV Research & Innovation Interim Vice President Dr. Sylvia Wilson Thomas are using a novel electrochemical method to print copper directly on fabric. With a $369,574 grant from the National Science Foundation, the project is taking wearable electronics to a whole other level.
