鶹AV partners with MacDill Air Force Base to grow and strengthen educational opportunities
The 鶹AV is officially joining forces with MacDill Air Force Base to increase opportunities for collaboration that will benefit both entities. With education at the forefront, the overall goal is to encourage and enhance the study of a variety of fields, including science, technology, engineering and math.

鶹AV professor: Statin use not justified for healthy people with high cholesterol
New research from David Diamond, a neuroscientist and cardiovascular disease researcher in the Department of Psychology at the 鶹AV showed LDL alone has “a very weak association” with heart disease and stroke. Their review went further, showing that when people with high LDL and optimal triglycerides and HDL were given a statin, there was no benefit.

As one of four data generation projects funded by NIH’s Bridge2AI, this multi-institution project – co-led by the 鶹AV and Weill Cornell Medicine – will bring together medical, voice, AI, engineering, and ethics experts to create a human voice database using privacy-preserving AI, giving doctors a new tool for diagnosing conditions known to have associations with voice alterations.

The 鶹AV has hit an all-time high on U.S. News & World Report’s (U.S. News) annual ranking of the best colleges in America. In the new rankings released today, 鶹AV sits at No. 42 among all public universities and No. 97 among all universities public or private.

A legislative panel Friday approved money for more than 230 local projects and programs across the state. Among the approved spending items was $15 million to build a facility to house the Florida Flood Hub for Applied Research and Innovation program at 鶹AV St. Petersburg.
