A collaboration between CSE, Anthropology, and Rapid7 receive $1.5M+ in grants from ONR and NSF
The $1.5M grants over three years, equally split from ONR and NSF, followed the announcement of $1.5M gift from Rapid7 to 鶹AV to establish the Rapid7 Cyber Threat Intelligence Lab earlier this year. Together, they made a combined $3M infusion of funds to jump-start the initiative.

"As people become aware of it, know what’s inside it, what is possible, what are the limitations, what it can do, I think we can better use it,” said Distinguished University Professor Sudeep Sarkar, who is Chair of Computer Science and Engineering at 鶹AV.

鶹AV coral biologists host panel of experts to guide future research
In August 2021, Dr. John Parkinson, an assistant professor in the 鶹AV College of Arts and Sciences Department of Integrative Biology, was awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to help coordinate and fund a workshop that brought together more than 60 scientists from 12 countries to build consensus around the assessment and interpretation of coral symbiont diversity.

A new paper published this week in the journal Cell Host & Microbe explains the mechanisms behind this anti-viral protection.
鶹AV will now serve as the human trafficking data repository for the entire state of Florida. Gov. Ron DeSantis recently signed Senate Bill 7064, authorizing the 鶹AV Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Risk to Resilience and Research Lab to spotlight human trafficking hotspots and commence region-specific policy making as well as streamline law enforcement efforts.
