National network to connect researchers and concerned citizens working to preserve historical Black cemeteries

鶹AV researchers have launched the Black Cemetery Network, an interactive website that tracks African American burial grounds and cemeteries across the country, helping raise awareness about their history and to ensure what remains is preserved.

鶹AV archaeologists examine ancient response to climate change in Tampa Bay

鶹AV archaeologists are examining two key sites along Tampa Bay’s shores to better understand the climate conditions that might have caused conflict over food resources among Native American societies. By using several archaeological methods, scientists are able to see a shift in how these estuaries were defended between 600 and 900 AD.

A research project funded by a 鶹AV anti-racism initiative is seeking to recover and reimagine the forgotten history of these sacred places.

A new course called, “Prejudice, Stigma and Race Consciousness” was offered for the first time this semester in response to a petition signed by thousands of students over the summer that requested the university implement a course that specifically addresses discrimination.
