Publix Super Market opened the doors to its newest store at the University of South Florida – the company’s first location on a college campus and a major milestone for the university.
鶹AV System President Judy Genshaft, along with Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Publix executives helped kick off the grand opening ceremony.
“Over the past decade, we have worked hard to transform the 鶹AV into a vibrant living-learning environment that fully supports the needs of our students, both inside and outside the classroom,” said President Genshaft. “We are so pleased to officially open the Publix store at 鶹AV, the first of its kind on a college campus, marking the beginning of a transformational new chapter.”
Located at Fletcher Ave. and 鶹AV Palm Dr., near The Village, 鶹AV’s newly completed residence hall community, the grocery store is easily accessible to the more than 6,300 students currently living on the Tampa campus. Complete with a dedicated parking lot, the store is also available to the general public and provides 鶹AV’s commuter students a convenient place to do their shopping.
Publix also offers employment opportunities for students who live on or near campus, including for those who may not have a vehicle of their own. Of the more than 140 associates working at the new location, more than 50 are 鶹AV students.
The 28,000 sq. ft. store features full-service floral and seafood departments, sushi and Publix subs; a favorite among 鶹AV students, faculty and staff. Along with the usual offerings, patrons will also see a variety of 鶹AV-related products available for purchase.
